Statkraft kicks off dedicated safety week at construction sites
Statkraft Ireland has today kicked off a schedule of events to mark the construction industry’s Safety Week (Oct. 26th – 30th).
The campaign will take place at its construction sites at Cloghan Wind Farm, Taghart Wind Farm and Ballymacarney Solar Farm, as well as the active construction sites in the UK. It will reinforce the company’s goal that everyone should return home safely from work.
It will also reiterate that everyone, both staff and contractors alike, has the authority to stop unsafe work.
Speaking about the week’s events Ger Reidy, Statkraft’s Senior HSSE Advisor in Ireland and the UK said, “Establishing and operating renewable energy can be dangerous work. We want to ensure that all our staff, manufacturers & contractors are safe by choice, not chance, so we take HSSE very seriously in Statkraft.”
“That is why we put together this programme of activities, to reinforce the message that caring for people and the environment is a value that we all share and is the most important driver in all of our construction projects. We work hard to improve and expand our initiatives related to Health and Safety and we do it with strong commitment and engagement from managers as well as employees.”
The week’s events will include the unveiling of Stop Unsafe Work banners across all of the active sites, Emergency Health and Safety Drills, Toolbox Talks, HSSE awards and Site Walkdowns. The activities will be conducted with engagement from consultants and contractors and will encourage visible and active safety on the sites.
To promote health and safety, Statkraft focuses on establishing a company culture based on care, transparency, clear requirements, and continuous improvement.
