Our wind farms

Wind power is one of the easiest ways of generating low-cost electricity from renewable energy sources, and plays an important role in meeting the Ireland's energy needs.

Acres wind farm, Ireland

Acres, a wind farm of 17,5MW installed capacity operated by Statkraft, on behalf of owner BlackRock.

Statkraft is already Europe’s largest producer of renewable energy and has an ambition to grow further within hydropower, wind and solar power, as well as market operations in Europe, South-America and India.

Further investments in Irish renewables

Ireland is one of the selected new growth markets for onshore wind and solar power in Statkraft, and further investments in Irish renewables fit well into Statkraft’s growth strategy. Statkraft’s ambition is to increase its portfolio of wind power assets to 6,000 MW by 2025.

Head of Development in Statkraft Ireland,  Kevin O’Donovan has said:

"We are interested in developing relationships with people from all sectors including industry, utilities and local communities where opportunities may be present, with the view to assessing how we can bring forward sustainable and appropriate renewable energy projects.”

Statkraft has developed a competitive position within onshore wind power and has a proven track record of delivering construction projects on cost and time. In Ireland, Statkraft is currently constructing onshore wind projects:

  • Under Construction 23.5 MW
    Kilathmoy 23.5 MW
  • Advanced stage development 115 MW
    Derrykillew 25 MW (permitted)
    Coole 47 MW
    Moanvane 43 MW (permitted)
